Lillian Snodgrass of Gatewood, Missouri, died Sunday, May 19, 2013, at the Southeast Health Center in Doniphan, Missouri. She was the daughter of Lon and Lillie Huddleston and was born November 3, 1914, in Dalton, Arkansas. Survivors include one son, Kenneth Snodgrass and wife, Linda, of Gatewood; two grandsons, Jeffery Snodgrass and wife, Dawn, of St. Charles, Missouri, and Cary Snodgrass of St. Peters, Missouri; two great-grandchildren, Brittany and Zachary; and two great-great-grandchildren, twins Karter and Ava. She married Noble Snodgrass in 1939 and he preceded her in death in 1991. Also preceding her in death were her parents, Lon and Lillie (Baker) Huddleston; two brothers, Lonzo and Leonard Huddleston; and three infant siblings. As a young lady, she worked at a boarding house in Myrtle, Missouri. There she met Noble as he stopped to fill up with gas. After marriage, they operated a ferry boat on Eleven Point River in 1939 and 1940. There Kenneth was born. During World War II, Lillian was a welder in the shipyards in Richmond, California. She and Noble took on various jobs in different cities - Richmond, California, twice, State of Washington, Wichita, Kansas and St. Louis. After moving back to Oregon County, she worked at Vitronics for several years. In the retirement years, her hobby was her yardwork and gardening. Sewing and canning were the inside activities. Interesting conversations with her was the depression, her father's tie rafting on Eleven Point River and the World War II era. She was a member of the Liberty Free Will Baptist Church in Gatewood Visitation will be Wednesday evening, May 22, 2013, from 5 - 7 p.m. in the Edwards Funeral Home. The funeral service will take place Thursday afternoon, May 23, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Liberty Freewill Baptist Church in Gatewood with Brother Aaron Allen officiating. Burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery.
