Lavena Belle Hitt Tettleton, 76, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at her residence in rural Doniphan. Mrs. Hitt Tettleton, daughter of John and Cloyce (Staten) Green, was born February 16, 1936, in Ponder, Missouri. She served as a waitress in the food service industry. Lavena enjoyed sewing, making quilts, upholstering furniture, generally making old things new. She was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post #3485 Women's Auxiliary and was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. On June 25, 1955, she was married to Charles H. Hitt in Flint, Michigan. He preceded her in death on October 11, 2001. She was married to Henry Tettleton of Doniphan on May 21, 2011, and he survives. Also surviving are four daughters; Blenda K. "Mickey" Koehler of Cassville, Missouri, Debra Ann Hitt of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Valerie Elizabeth Pence of Cadillac, Michigan, and Nancy Louise Belill of Clio, Michigan; one son, Charles H. "Butch" Hitt, Jr. of Doniphan; two sisters, Ramona Griffin and Betty Jane Kernodle, both of Doniphan; one brother, Stanley Green of O'Fallon, Missouri; 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Cloyce Green, and her husband of 46 years, Charles Hitt Visitation will be held on Thursday evening, October 18, 2012, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will take place Friday morning, October 19, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. in the Edwards Funeral Home chapel. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the Piggott Cemetery in Piggott, Arkansas.
