Obituary of Hilda Janetta Smith

Hilda Janetta Smith, 93-year-old resident of Doniphan, MO, departed this life Monday, June 19, 2023. She was born July 31, 1929, in Campbell, MO, to the late Samuel Powers and Lara Lillian (Rudder) Pyles.

Hilda was a tenderhearted and caring person who enjoyed cooking and helping other people.

In addition to her parents, Hilda was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Smith, who passed away in 2000. She was also preceded by a son, Charles Powers and several of her brothers and sisters.

Surviving are her children, Anita Perez of San Antonio, TX, Roger Powers and William Powers, both of Doniphan; brothers, Leroy Pyles of Poplar Bluff, MO and Gale Pyles of Joliet, IL; along with three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, June 26, 2023, beginning at noon followed by a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. at the Doniphan City Cemetery.
