Loyd Rex Holland, 91, of Doniphan, Missouri, departed this life Thursday, August 18, 2016, at his residence.
Mr. Holland, son of Henry Roscoe and Sarah Magdalene (Owens) Holland, was born April 27, 1925, in Ponder, Missouri. He had been self-employed in the timber industry. Mr. Holland enjoyed reading and he especially loved singing. He had been a pilot, a minister and was a member of the Church of Christ.
On November 3, 1945, he was married to Bonnie Mae Robbins at Pocahontas, Arkansas, and she survives.
Also surviving are 6 children; Reta (Richard) Green of Davis, California, Wendell (Jane) Holland of Conyers, Georgia, Lial (Martha F.) Holland and Darrell Holland, both of Doniphan, Sherrill (Wally) Colvin of Sacramento, California, and Vol (Linda) Holland of Edgar Springs, Missouri; and 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Holland was preceded in death by his parents; 1 son, Elige Clayton Holland; 1 brother, Henry Holland; and 6 sisters, Ruth Marie Weston, Edith Muriel Ewton, Aggie Hudson, Edna Oakley, Bessie Oakley and Nellie Kennon.
Visitation for Mr. Holland will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 2016, at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Carl Hollis officiating. Burial will be in the Doniphan City Cemetery.
