Susan Jean McCaffrey, 71, of Festus, MO, departed this life Friday, February 27, 2026. She was born September 13, 1954, in St. Louis, MO, to the late James and Charlene (Wagner) Barnett.

Susan had a natural gift for nurturing things including plants, people and her home. With her love for gardening, Susan found her perfect fit working as the garden center manager for Home Depot. Away from work, Susan enjoyed relaxing with a good book. Above all, Susan was an avid and devoted St. Louis Cardinals fan, cheering them through every season with unwavering loyalty. Those who knew and loved her will forever think of her when the Cardinals take the field. As spring arrives, gardens begin to bloom, and the Cardinals kick off the opening of baseball season, may her memory be a reminder of the things she loved and enjoyed.

Surviving are her children, Balina (Jack) Daniels of Bonne Terre, MO, Sara Asberry of Doniphan, and James McCaffrey, also of Doniphan. She was Nana to Halle (Ryan), Glory, Michael, Cooper, Grace (Matthew), Faith, Gabe, Hope, Bella, and Maria; and her great-grandchildren, Nolan, Cole, Samuel, Aria, Astrid, and Dustin.

The family will have a private memorial at a later date.
