Sherrie Mae Donnell, 63, of Poplar Bluff, MO, departed this life Sunday, February 15, 2026, at Mercy Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO. She was born November 29, 1962, in Kansas City, MO, to the late Patrick Phillips and Joyce Williams.

Sherrie spent many years working as a waitress, a role that suited her perfectly. Her warm smile, quick wit, and easygoing nature made everyone she served feel welcome. She also was a wonderful cook who loved to prepare delicious meals for her family and friends. She had a gift for brightening a room and bringing laughter to those around her, often turning ordinary moments into cherished memories. Helping others came naturally to Sherrie, whether through a kind word, a shared joke, or a listening ear. Her greatest joy was her family and her devotion was unwavering.  She lived her life to keep her daughter’s, Heather’s, memory alive. Usually at her side was her beloved dog, Daisy, her faithful companion.

Surviving are her children, Nikki Mathews and Gabriel Gunter, both of Poplar Bluff; a sister, Paula Levering of Boulder, CO; and two grandchildren, Nevaeh Mathews and Gavyn Dees; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Sherrie was preceded in death by a daughter, Heather Donnell, and a sister, Sandy Holland.

Visitation will be held in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, February 19, 2026, beginning at 4:00 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 5:00 p.m. Serra McCabe will be officiating.
