Elsie Mae Caldwell reached the age of 100 and was nearing her 101st birthday before departing this life on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, MO just a few weeks shy of her birthday. She was born April 16, 1925, in Agnes, AR, to the late William Andrew and Tennessee (Rhodes) Moore. Having lived a full century, Elsie witnessed remarkable changes in the world and daily life while remaining steadfast in the values that mattered most to her: faith and family.
Elsie cherished her roles as a wife, mother, and grandmother, and her family was the center of her life. She adored them and her home was always warm and welcoming to all who entered. Whether sharing a meal, offering a listening ear, or simply sitting together in comfortable conversation, Elsie’s home was one where everyone felt welcome. She was of the Church of Christ faith. Her life was a testament to love, faith, and devotion. Elsie always enjoyed the challenge of working crossword puzzles and was pleased when finding just the right word for each clue. She also spent time sewing, skillfully creating and mending with love in each careful stitch.
Elsie was united in marriage to Dewey Ralph Caldwell who preceded her in death in 1965. She was also preceded by her daughters, Brenda Allison and Gail Caldwell; two grandchildren; six brothers; and four sisters.
Surviving are her children, Jerry Caldwell and wife, Jennifer, of Dexter, MO, Kenny Caldwell of Gilbertsville, KY, Linda Trube of Doniphan, and Terry Caldwell of Dexter. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, February 13, 2026, beginning at 11:00 a.m. with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Myrtle Cemetery.
