Christy Michelle Monks, 45-year-old resident of Doniphan, MO, departed this life Friday, February 6, 2026. She was born April 5, 1980, in Pocahontas, AR, to Scott and Christy (Allen) King of Doniphan.
Michelle had an outgoing personality and sense of humor that helped her face and overcome obstacles of life. She was always full of love and life. Michelle always had a warm smile that lit her face and sparkle in her eye. Her focus was always her family whom she cherished and dearly loved. In her younger days, Michelle enjoyed sewing and riding her horse, Buck. She and Buck spent many hours together. She also had a special place in her heart for her dog, Ginger, that she got on her 18th birthday. With Michelle’s love and care, Ginger lived to the age of 16. When her health allowed, Michelle attended the Doniphan Church of Christ where she also found strength through her faith. She was a devoted member and was active with the youth of the church. When Michelle was not able to attend, many of her “church family” would visit Michelle where they would sing, read the Bible, and have Bible studies.
On April 21, 2001, Michelle married Garrett Monks, and he survives. Also surviving are her parents, Scott and Christy King; her son, Austin Monks of Doniphan; her brother, Jacob (Cassie) King of Muncy, PA; sister-in-law, Amanda Gambill; and father-in-law, Earl Monks. She also leaves behind dear nephews, Elijah King, Owen King, Ethan (Jessica) Gambill, and Landon Gambill; great-nephew, Spencer Gambill; and many other dear family members.
Michelle was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Renee Monks. She was also preceded by loving grandparents on both sides of her family.
Visitation will be held at the Doniphan Church of Christ on Saturday, February 14, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. with a Celebration of Michelle’s Life to follow at 1:00 p.m.
