Donnie Jay Long, 71, a resident of Doniphan, Missouri, passed away on January 22, 2026, at his home surrounded by family.

Donnie was born on December 16, 1954, in Tipton, Indiana, to Alva Walter and Joyce Ann (Duncan) Long. He grew up in Windfall, Indiana, alongside several extended family members. He attended Windfall School and Tri-Central, graduating in January 1973.

Donnie worked for 28 years at Starting USA (SUSA) in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, where he was a machine operator, primarily running a spot welder. He was a hardworking and dedicated employee throughout his career.

He enjoyed gardening, collecting, and fishing, but his true passion was NASCAR. Donnie watched every race he could—no matter the series—never missing an opportunity to enjoy the sport he loved.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Archer) Long; his children, Lisa Reynolds, Bradley Long, and Tad Long; and his grandson, Christopher Long. He is also survived by two brothers, Steve Long and Keith (Wally) Long.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Danny Long; a grandson, Donnie Jay Reynolds; a niece, Jamie Long; a nephew, Brandon Robinson; his paternal and maternal grandparents; a cousin, Larry Long; and several aunts and uncles.

Donnie’s wish was to be cremated and to have no services. His hope was to be remembered as he was. He is, and always will be, loved and deeply missed by his family.

In lieu of flowers, Donnie requested that a tree be planted in his memory.
