Dennis Lee Cooper, 69-year-old resident of Doniphan, MO, departed this life Friday, January 9, 2026, at Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur, MO. He was born March 24, 1956, in St. Louis, MO, to the late Leroy and Blanche (Hubbard) Cooper.
Dennis proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Following his military service, he dedicated 30 years of his working life to Briggs & Stratton, where he was known as a hard worker who turned coworkers into friends. He later retired from Briggs & Stratton. In his free time, Dennis enjoyed watching sports on television. He had a deep love for cars and took pleasure in watching car shows. He also enjoyed the hunting and fishing opportunities our area offered. Dennis attended Bellview Church until his health no longer permitted. Above all else, Dennis’s life centered around his family whom he cherished deeply. Dennis will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his loyalty, and his love for family, friends, and his country.
On June 26, 1993, Dennis married Janice (Ponder) Cooper in Poplar Bluff, MO. She survives. Also surviving are his children, Chris (Crisda) Langgin of Fairdealing, MO, Frank Langgin of Doniphan, Travis (Ashley) Cooper of Evansville, IN, and Melissa (Danny) Bergeron of Cotton Port, LA, and eight grandchildren, Steven, Mia, Gabriel, Mischa, Savannah, Freyia, Xavier, and Addy.
In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by a son, David Cooper on September 14, 2011; a brother, Leonard Cooper; special brother-in-law, Lee Ponder; and three granddaughters in infancy.
Visitation will be held in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, beginning at noon with a graveside service with full military honors to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery. Pastor Jerry Cooper will be officiating.
