Fred B. Pepmiller Obituary

Fred Bertrand Pepmiller passed peacefully on January 2, 2026, at his home.  He was born January 26, 1937, to Fred and Mable (Cook) Pepmiller.  He was a lifelong resident of Ripley County.


Fred graduated from Doniphan High School in 1953.  He graduated from Arkansas State University in 1961.


On May 24, 1958, he married Joyce (Braschler) Pepmiller.  She preceded him in death on September 14, 2025.


Fred was a retired teacher and building contractor.


Fred was a very active member of Doniphan First Church of God, teaching Sunday School, and serving on the board of trustees for many years.


Fred used his building talents in many church projects, both locally and the state youth camp, Camp Sharon.  He also served on the board for Camp Sharon for many years.  He was instrumental in building new cabins and the new worship center at the camp.  He and Joyce spent many hours working and enjoying time at Camp Sharon for many years.


They loved to travel and enjoyed visiting 49 states, Canada, and Mexico together with family and friends.  He loved the outdoors, especially hunting with many friends and his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.


Fred loved God and his family.  He is survived by his daughter, Kathy (Alan) Slayton; son Roy (Sheila) Pepmiller; and daughter Carolyn (Wilford) Bonnell; Nine grandchildren, Gary (Heather) Slayton; Kristi (Shane) Lindsey; Fred (Julea) Pepmiller; Willie (Karie) Pepmiller; Samantha (Ben) Higgins; Joey (Lexi) Pepmiller; Jimmy Pepmiller; Matthew (Julie) O’Neal; and Sara (Ryan) Brown.  Sixteen great grandchildren also survive.  He is also survived by one brother, Bill (Charlotte) Pepmiller; one sister Kay Eddings; and one brother-in-law, Dennis Braschler.  Many nieces and nephews also survive.


He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce; his parents; three sisters, Glenna Czerwonka; June Burnley; Freda Coan; and one son in law, Russ O’Neal.


Funeral services will be held Monday, January 5, 2026 at Noon at the Doniphan 1st Church of God, with visitation being held from 10 AM to service time.  Officiating will be Pastors Elijah Allen, Larry Bashaw, Roy Pepmiller, and Joey Pepmiller.  Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
