Eurskin “Eugene” Peoples, age 70, of Stokes, AR, departed this life at St. Bernards Medical Center on Sunday, December 28, 2025.

 Born on July 26, 1955, in Pocahontas, AR, to the late Eurskin Melton and Magdalene Peoples, Eugene was a truck driver most of his life, and he enjoyed this. Eugene loved his family dearly.

In July 1989, Eugene married Vetrea Smith Peoples who preceded him in death. He later married Shirley Kildow, in October 2001, who also preceded him in death.

Eugene is survived by two daughters, Brandy Smith Peoples of Maynard, AR and Gina Cagle (David) of Corning, AR; five sisters, Janice Judd (Brian) of Lafe, AR, Sharon Ross of Pocahontas, AR, Pat Cato (Earl Hickey) of Alma, Tina Burton (Andy) of Biggers, AR, and Samantha Melton (Jason McClay) of Conway, AR; and three brothers, Darrell Melton (Debbie) of Maynard, Len Peoples of Maynard, and Danny Peoples (Kathy) of Maynard.

Eugene also leaves behind eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Eugene was also preceded in death by his daughter; Jayne Sisco, two wives, Vetrea and Shirley Peoples; his parents, Eurskin Melton and Magdalene Peoples; and three brothers, Steve, Joe, and Wayne Melton.

Eugene’s daughter, Brandy, wishes to extend a special thank you to his home health company, Walk with Us Home Care, for always taking such good care of him and an even bigger thank you to his home care aide, Katlyn Rowley. She was more than an aide to him. She was his best friend and became like family. She dedicated a great deal of time to Eugene’s care, providing him with unwavering support and a cherished friendship.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026, at Overby Cemetery on Washington Road in Maynard, AR with Brother Hampton Owens officiating.
