Michael Allen Wicklund, Senior, known to most simply as Mike, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2025, in Leesburg, Florida, with his wife Kim by his side, just days before his 83rd birthday. He was born December 20, 1942, in St. Louis, MO, but was raised in Brookfield, MO. Mike lived a life marked by service, intelligence, laughter, and an unwavering love for God and family.
Mike proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1966 to 1971, attaining the rank of Second Lieutenant. He served during the Vietnam era, stationed in Okinawa, Japan, and was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal. His military service reflected his strong sense of duty, leadership, and integrity.
A brilliant and driven man, Mike earned a Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering and later received an Honorary Master’s Degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Missouri–Rolla School of Mines. In 1972, he founded West Chicago Forge alongside his wife Kay. In 1979, the business was relocated to Doniphan, Missouri, where it was renamed Missouri Forge, Inc., continuing a legacy of hard work, craftsmanship, and perseverance.
Mike was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Kay Wicklund; his parents, Margie Pritchard Wicklund-Brown and Gerald Brown; his grandson Cody Scott Cundall; and his great-grandson Xavior Hawkins.
He is survived by his wife Kimberly “Kim” Wicklund; his brother William “Bill” Wicklund (Rochelle); his children Michael Allen Wicklund, Jr. (Sheryl), Sharon Kay Pigg (Von), Liesa Ann Pennington (Gary), and Connie Sue McBroom (Rick); along with 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, all of whom were the pride and joy of his life.
Mike loved life deeply. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and shooting pool, as well as flying airplanes, golfing, cruising, and traveling the world. His laughter was contagious, his dad jokes legendary, and his smile alone could light up a room. He instinctively knew when someone needed a hug and when they needed thoughtful conversation.
Above all, Mike loved Jesus. His faith guided his life, and his family finds comfort knowing he is now walking with the Lord. He greeted everyone with a handshake, treated people with kindness and respect, and left an impression wherever he went—not through volume, but through genuine presence and love.
