Johnny Franklin Nicholson, 66, of Doniphan, MO, departed this life Thursday, November 11, 2025, at Current River Nursing Center. He was born July 7, 1959, in Fort Worth, TX, to the late Johnny Franklin Nicholson, Sr. and Margaret Elizabeth (Dowd) Nicholson.

Johnny was a gifted, professional painter whose talent left its mark across the country, especially in Dallas, TX and Pheonix, AZ., One of his most outstanding and memorable works is the large brewery sign in Dallas. His painting was an expression of his creativity, talent, and pride. Outside of work, Johnny enjoyed a night out, especially if it included a good meal and spending time with a nice lady.

Surviving is his brother, Guy Allen Nicholson of Doniphan and guardian, Beverly Lynn Henning-Nicholson “Dusty”, also of Doniphan.

In addition to his parents, Johnny was preceded in death by a brother, Brian Russel Nicholson.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Current River Nursing Center for the exceptional care, patience, and support they gave Johnny while he was in their care. They were a match for his personality and wit. They also want to thank Elara Hospice for their compassionate care when Johnny came to the final stages of his life.

The family will have a private memorial, and later his cremains will be laid to rest by his mother in Michigan.
