OBITUARY FOR KARIN RENEE (BATES) WIDDING

Karin Renee (Bates) Widding, age 55, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 22nd, surrounded by those who loved her.

Karin was born in St. Louis and grew up in Doniphan, where she attended school and formed many of the friendships she cherished throughout her life. She continued her education at Three Rivers Community College, but Doniphan remained her home. It was there she met and married Chad Widding and built a family, raising their two children: Diane Michele “Sheli” and Robert Dalton.

Karin had a kind spirit and a big heart. She enjoyed playing bingo and bowling with her friends. She loved her St. Louis Cardinals, so, of course, her favorite color was red. She found joy in simple moments and shared that with everyone around her.

Karin was preceded in death by her parents, Diane Borth Hart and David Bates, as well as her stepfather, Kenny Hart, and her beloved son, Dalton.

She is survived by her daughter, Sheli, and her ex-husband, Chad Widding. They both lovingly mourn her passing.

Services will be held at Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 28th, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Brooks Cemetery, where Karin will be laid to rest beside Dalton. Casey Thompson will be officiating.

The family would like to give a heartfelt thank-you to Karin’s caregiver, Ashley Barnett, for her exceptional care, compassion, and for going above and beyond.
