Arletta A. Orr, 86, of Doniphan, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday November 5, 2025, in Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri with her loving husband, Jimmie L. Orr by her side.
Arletta was born in Pine, Missouri to James Elmon Whitwell and Leecy (Baumgardener) Whitwell on April 25,1939. She worked on her father’s sawmill as a young girl doing numerous tasks. She attended Pine Elementary School then went to high school at Doniphan High School and graduated in 1957. She went on to work in St. Louis, MO at IBM. After marrying Jimmie on December 5, 1959, they moved to Viola, Delaware where Jimmie was stationed in Dover, Delaware at the Air Force Base where they made many special memories including fishing and going to the movies. From there they moved to Michigan where they lived for 32 years and raised their two children. After retiring they moved to Doniphan, Missouri in 1993, Arletta enjoyed going on walks, reading, crosswords, puzzles and she was a published poet. She was in the women’s group at Memphis, MI United Methodist Church for 30 years. She was a Sunday School teacher at the Oak Ridge Church of God in Briar, Missouri.
Arletta is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years Jimmie L. Orr, two sons Jimmie A. Orr, Eric (Rose) Orr, a sister Carolyn Dale, a brother Willis Whitwell all of Doniphan, Missouri. She is also survived by four grandchildren Jason Orr of Doniphan, Amanda Anselman of Kimberling City, Missouri, Leecy (Benjamin) Perrigo of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and Lucas Orr of Dudley, Missouri. Three great-grandchildren Joshua Boyer of Kimberling City, Missouri, Genevieve and Minnie Perrigo of Poplar Bluff, Missouri and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by two sisters Emma Foster and Sandra Rickert, two great-grandbabies Arletta Anselman and Alyssa Orr, and her parents.
Visitation services will be held at Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan, Missouri on Tuesday November 18, 2025, at 10:00am with the eulogy done by Carolyn Chapman. Funeral service to follow at 11:00am with Judy Brandon of Oak Ridge Church of God officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Church of God Cemetery, Briar, Missouri. Pallbearers will be Jimmie A. Orr, Eric Orr, Ken DeMiglio, Jason Orr, Lucas Orr and Benjamin Perrigo.
Memorial donations may be made to the Oak Ridge Church of God Cemetery Fund, 141 Songbird Lane, Doniphan, Missouri 63935. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all the members of Oak Ridge Church of God.
