Delno Gentry, 90, of Harrisburg, IL and former resident of Doniphan, MO, departed this life Wednesday, November 5, 2025. He was born February 26, 1935, in Shook, MO to the late Charlie and Willa G. (Hicks) Gentry.
Delno was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was known for his quiet strength and steadfast love he shared with his family. A skilled cabinet maker, Delno’s work was meticulous with attention to details and quality. Above all, Delno was a man of deep faith. His relationship with God was at the center of everything he did, and he lived his life with the quiet strength that came from his Christian convictions and values. Delno led by example, guiding his family and others to a closer walk with Christ. His faithfulness was a cornerstone of his life and his love for others was deeply felt by those who knew him.
On October 14, 1955, Delno married Myrtle Mae Gentry in Rockford, IL. She preceded him in death on October 22, 2020. He was also preceded by a son-in-law, Michael Fielder; his twin brother, Elmo Gentry, an infant brother, Vester Gene Gentry; and a brother, Leon Gentry.
Surviving are his children, Dale (Sandra) Gentry of Chana, IL, Brenda (Ernie) Tubbs of Paducah, KY, Allen (Marilyn) Gentry of Portageville, MO, Bobby (Della) Gentry of Harrisburg, IL, and Pamela Fielder of Mendota, IL; sisters, Eva Miller of Heber Springs, AR, Linda and Jim Cahill of Show Low, AZ, and Sharon Greer of Rockford, IL; and brothers, Jerry and Delores Gentry of Rockford, IL, Larry and Janet Gentry of Mountain Home, ID, and Tommy and Norma Gentry of Harrisburg, IL. Also surviving are11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Monday, November 10, 2025, at West Point United Pentecostal Church beginning at noon with the funeral services to follow at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Chuck Carr will be officiating, and burial will be in Amity Cemetery.
