JC Meeks Obituary

James Charles “JC” Meeks, 84, of Doniphan, MO, departed this life Friday, August 8, 2025. He was born March 23, 1941, in Noland, AR, to the late Arthur and Stella (Williams) Meeks.

A telephone lineman with GTE and then later with CenturyTel, JC spent many hours, alongside his brothers, outdoors climbing poles, finding solutions to problems, and serving customers. His love for the outdoors extended beyond his career. He especially enjoyed going fishing or hunting whenever he had the chance. A devoted sports enthusiast, JC, had a lifelong passion for basketball, football, and baseball. His focus on sports began in his youth when he was the sports editor of his school newspaper, played football, and ran track. This appreciation deepened over the years. As a proud Arkansas native, the Razorbacks topped his list of favorite teams. JC had served his country with honor in the United States Air Force. He was also a member of the Pocahontas Church of Christ.

On October 2, 1970, JC married Fredia “Jinkie” (Sipes) Meeks. She survives. Also surviving is a son, John (Carolyn) Meeks of Doniphan; a brother, Larry Meeks of Pocahontas, AR; and many dear nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, JC was preceded in death by a son, Frankie Meeks; his sisters, Geneva Leathers, Pauline Stewart, Nona Hargis, and Ada Mae Meeks: and brothers, Eugene Meeks, Darvin Meeks, and Doyle Meeks.

A memorial visitation will be held in the Edwards Funeral Chapel on Saturday, August 16, 2025, beginning at 3:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Life to follow at 4:00 p.m.. The family plans to scatter his ashes at the family farm following the service.
