James Lance Ard, born March 7, 1955, in New York, was the son of the late James Donald and Joan (Downs) Ard. He departed this life Saturday, July 26, 2025.
James was a great man who lived a full life. He enjoyed the simple life. He loved farming, grilling, and visiting with family and friends. James loved working in his shop, drinking a cold beer after his long day at work, and watching westerns. Before working on tractors and retiring this year from Baker’s, James had the courage, strength, and integrity to help protect his country by serving in the United States Air Force for 20 years and retiring as a Master Sargeant. One quote from John Wayne that James liked the most was, “Talk low, talk slow, and don’t say too much. Just watch.” He loved his country and proudly waved the American flag.
On August 7, 2014, James married Kristi Jean (Hasselbush) Ard in Doniphan. She survives. Also surviving are his sons, Jonathan Wayne Kuykendall and Chris Kuykendall; a daughter, Jessica Hawk; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind a brother, Donny, and sister, Kathy, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a son, Jonathan Paul Kuykendall.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, July 31, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Hunt-White Memorial Gardens with full military honors.
