Donald W. “Waif” Griffin, 79, of Doniphan, MO, departed this life Monday, July 21, 2025. He was born December 30, 1945, in Ripley County, MO, to the late Ezra Lee and Florence Clara (Duncan) Griffin.
Waif had retired from Gates Rubber Company where he had worked for many years as a vulcanizer. An avid outdoorsman, he found great joy in hunting and fishing. These pastimes took him on countless adventures. He especially loved elk hunting in Colorado and fishing in the pristine waters of Canada. Waif attended the Ponder Church of Christ and had served in the National Guard.
On May 29, 1969, Waif married Hester Gibson at the Doniphan Church of Christ, and she survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Regina Seibold of Knoxville, TN; a sister, Linda Steele of Doniphan; brothers, Carter Griffin of Doniphan, and John Griffin of St. Charles, MO; and a grandson, Nathaniel Seibold.
In addition to his parents, Waif was preceded in death by a sister, Jo Ann Griffin, and a brother, Bennie Griffin.
Visitation will be held in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. with funeral service to follow at 10:30 a.m. Dan Murdock will be officiating, and burial will be in the Doniphan City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Waif’s name to the Ponder Community Building.
