James F. Emery, 78-year-old resident of Doniphan, MO, departed this life Thursday, June 12, 2025. He was born October 19, 1946, in Alma, MI, to the late Ira F. and Irene (Terpening) Emery.

A dedicated serviceman, James served honorably in the United States Army, achieving the rank of 1st Sargeant. His military career included service in Vietnam. Following his service in the military, James embraced a quieter found life in the Doniphan area where he enjoyed the pleasures of rural life which included working on his farm, spending time in the woods hunting, and serving his community with the Purman Volunteer Fire Department. His sense of duty and service continued long after his military years. He was a member of the Doniphan United Methodist Church where he attended regularly. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication, honor, compassion, and service.

On August 29, 2004, James married Glenda Cooper in Ripley County, and she survives. Also surviving are his children, Jesse Emery of Scottsdale, AZ, Jamie Snodgrass of Ripley County, MO, Kendra Walker of Doniphan, and Justin Hutchinson of Paragould, AR; sisters, Marilyn Bilby of Kittery Point, ME and Sandra White of Prescott, AZ. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Kay-La, Isaac, Matthew, Austin, Bethanie, and Blayden, and a great-grandchild, Alay-Na.

Visitation will be held in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday, June 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., also in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Brother Kent Wilfong will be officiating. Burial will be in the Emery Family Cemetery on the family farm.
