Stella Joann Thompson, 83-year-old resident of Fairdealing, MO, departed this life Friday, May 9, 2025. She was born June 22, 1941, in Ripley County, MO, to the late Barton “Bo” and Dorothy (Adams) Webb.

Joann was known in Doniphan and the Ripley County area as the co-owner and operator of S & J Tax Service where she proudly served the community for many years. Her true calling, however, was found in the home where she was the heart of her family. As the cherished matriarch of the Thompson family, Joann’s love, wisdom, and steady presence left a lasting legacy in the life of her family. She was of the Missionary Baptist faith.

On November 29, 1958, in Ripley County, Joann married John Thompson. He survives. Also surviving are her son and daughter, Jerry (Laura) Thompson of Fairdealing, MO and Debbie (Mike) Melson, also of Fairdealing; a son-in-law, Carter Roberts of Fairdealing; a sister, Jane Godwin of Corpus Christy, TX; and a brother, Danny (Linda) Webb of George West, TX. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Michael, Bradley, Brian, and Logan, and great-grandchildren, Jason, Bailey, Riley, Rhett, Beau, Addie, Remington, Declan, Bentley, Maggie, and Jack.

Joann was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Roberts; granddaughter, Karen Roberts; sisters, Sue Dean and Janice Lynxwiler; and a brother, Donny Webb.

Visitation will be held in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, beginning at noon with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Fairdealing Cemetery. Brother Danny Miller will be officiating the services.
