Ruth B Lee

Ruth Borth Lee, a beloved mother, grandmother and dear friend, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2025, in Oviedo, Florida at the age of 98. Born April 28th, 1926, in Doniphan, Missouri: Ruth’s journey through life was marked by her unwavering commitment to family and friends.

Ruth graduated from Doniphan High School before moving to St. Louis with her family. She was a devoted member of the First Baptist Churches in Virginia and Rolla, MO. Her family was a priority, she enjoyed time with her nieces and nephew in St. Louis, Linda Backof, Steve Borth, and Lisa Goeke and then later her four grandchildren and great nieces and nephews.

Ruth is survived by her two sons, Jim (Gay) of The Woodlands, Texas and Paul (Cindy) of Winter Park, Florida. Ruth treasured her time with her grandchildren, Whitney Stearns (David), Jessica Sowell (Bradley), Erica Bell (Colton), and Morgan McCall (Nick). Ruth also enjoyed her great-grandchildren, Nora and Austin Stearns, Presley, Piper, Paxton, and Pryce Sowell, Declan and Sutton McCall, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Ruth had a zest for life, she was an avid reader, enjoyed needlepoint and hosting family gatherings. She was very active throughout her life, either working at Hope Dress Shop in Rolla or volunteering as an adult literacy teacher in Rolla. While in Florida at her condo complex, she volunteered as the librarian and was one of the leaders of the swim exercise group until the age of 92.

Ruth was proceeded in death by her parents, Harvey and Nell Borth; husband, Doug Lee; sister, Faye Borth; and brother, Earl Borth.

Arrangements are a visitation at Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan MO, at 10:00 a.m. on May 24th, followed by a graveside visit at Doniphan City (Oak Ridge) Cemetery at 10:30 am. Brother Kent Wilfong will be officiating.
