Obituary of Sue Dawes

Susan “Sue” Yvonne Dawes, departed this life Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 76 years old. She was born in Grandin, MO, August 1948, to the late Clesta (Key) Evans. On April 19th, she married her sweetheart of 49 years, Dennis Dawes.

Sue led a life full of creativity and passion, starting with her career as a beautician. Her love for beauty extended into all aspects of her life.  She found joy in the simple pleasures of nature, often relaxing on the Current River, tending to all of her plants, cultivating her garden, refurbishing furniture, shopping for unique finds, and designing her home.  

Sue is survived by Dennis; her sons, Rick (Sherri) Nance of DeSoto, MO, Jeff (Nickole) Dawes of Poplar Bluff, MO, and Denny (Linda) Dawes of Festus, MO; a sister, Kathy (Jerry) Werner; brothers, Glenn (Gail) Key and Shawn Key; her grandchildren, Josh, Faith, Aedan, Aisley, Kaden, Lily, and Hazel; as well as extended family and friends.

Sue’s two brothers, Gary Evans and Owen Key preceded her in death.

Visitation will be held at Edwards Funeral Home on Saturday, March 1, 2025, beginning at 11:00 a.m., the memorial service to follow at 1:00 p.m with Randy Whiteside officiating.

 

Family and friends are invited to The Naylor American Legion, for a potluck, to celebrate Sue’s life, immediately following the service.
