Obituary of Rose Byrd

Rosemary “Rose” Byrd, 81, of Doniphan, MO, departed this life Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, MO. She was born June 27, 1943, in Hillsboro, IL, to the late Clarence and Mary (McIntire) Howard.

Rose was a compassionate registered nurse who spent much of her life caring for others. In her spare time, she enjoyed scouring yard sales for treasures and working on a variety of craft projects. She was an avid reader, often finding time to relax with a good book. Rose had a unique interest in and love for dinosaurs.

Surviving are her sons, Mark Stout of Doniphan and Paul Stout of Thayer, MO; sisters, Barbarann Sellers of Colorado and Kathy Reed of Fairdealing, MO; and brothers, George Howard and Ernest Howard, both of Springfield, IL. Also surviving are her seven grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by two sisters, Vergie Hilles and Eleanore Spire.

Visitation will be held in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, February 24, 2025, beginning at noon with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Brother Pete Joplin will be officiating and burial will be in Hunt-White Memorial Gardens.
