Obituary of Ron Foster
Please share a memory of Ron to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Rolla Theodore Foster, known to most of us as Ron, left us Sunday, Dec 19th, 2021, at 12:30 p.m. from a sudden illness. He lived a good life of 78 years, with the last 34 years spent with the love of his life, Peggy. He was a loved father to Carmela, Troy (Kat), and Julie (Adam).
During Vietnam, Ron served 10 years in the United States Navy as a boilerman on two destroyers, the USS John A Bole and USS Stoddard, and was Honorably Discharged in 1969. Having always been an innovative man with an engineer’s brain, he worked in many trades, including welding and metal fabrication, and even as a steamfitter for Seawolf-class submarines in Beloit, Wisconsin.
In his early days, Ron explored the desert in his dune buggy with family and friends in Arizona. Later, with his children, he fished and camped. He was a voracious reader of Science Fiction and Louis L’Amour and gave his children the gift of reading.
He had a talent for invention and spent much of his life figuring out how to fix things. There was never a time when he wasn’t “tinkering” on a new project or helping a friend fix their broken contraptions.
Having declared he wanted a grandson, Ron was blessed with six mighty granddaughters: Artemisia, Inara, Cordelia, Maya, Adalynn, and Cora. They all loved their grandpa.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, William Foster and Geraldine Fitzsimmons, and his brother, Alvi Foster. He is survived by his brother Thomas Foster and sister Paulette Schultz.
The family is having a small private service now. This Spring, there will be a celebration of life to bring loved ones together and say goodbye to a great friend, father, and husband. The family appreciates all the warm support during this time of loss.
