My Dad lived a good life. He was one of the hardest working men I’ve ever known. I’m sure he is already sorting out some nuts and bolts in heaven setting up his workbench and planning out some great new invention. But of all of his qualities, one of the things that my father was brave. He was brave when he entered the Navy and spent 10 years defending the ideals of our country. He was brave when he uprooted his family to move back to Arkansas and the Midwest to start a new business. And he was brave when at the end of his life. When I sat at his bedside and told him that he had cancer and he knew this was a battle he was going to lose, he didn’t say “it’s not fair,” or “I don’t deserve this.” He asked me, “How is Peggy with this? Is she okay?” My dad was brave for others. As Dad moves on into the afterlife, please remember him as the brave, genuine, loving man he was. We miss you Dad.

A memory I have of Grandpa was when Christmas came a few years ago, I wrapped a present for him and since I was young it didn’t come out very good. I was worried he wouldn’t like it and I asked him if he liked it even though it was poorly wrapped. He said he liked it because it came from the heart and that made me feel good. I miss Grandpa very much.
