Homer Ray Hancock, 80-year-old resident of Doniphan, MO, departed this life Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO. He was born May 6, 1941 in Ripley County to the late Charles Earl and Louisa (Timmons) Hancock. Ray was a “Jack-of-all-Trades”. He was a mechanic, UPS driver, and retired from Hart Furniture. Ray was a jokester. He loved flea markets and antiquing. He was a collector of many things. Among his favorite was his collection of records numbering as many as 1,600. His most cherished time was that spent with his family and friends. Surviving are his daughter, Debbie (Carl) Lewis of Sparta, IL; son, Tom (Autum) Hancock of Murphysboro, IL; brothers, Leroy (Marilyn) Hancock of New Athens, IL and Everett (Mary) Hancock of Granite City, IL; four grandchildren, Kenneth (Amanda) Parnell, Robert (Lauren) Parnell, Aaron Hancock, and Nathan Hancock; three great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Derrick, and Kreyd; as well as many nieces and nephews, and dear friends, Paul and Tammy Cosgrove. Ray was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Rebecca Jean Parnell. Visitation will be in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, November 6, 2021 beginning at noon with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Doniphan City Cemetery.
