Obituary of Ben Pulliam

Benny “Ben” Lehman Pulliam, 83-year-old resident of Doniphan, MO, departed this life Sunday, August 8, 2021. He was born November 5, 1937 in Middlebrook, AR to the late Ponder and Glenna (Phipps) Pulliam.
Ben was a graduate of the Doniphan R-I class of 1955 and went on to attend ASU to earn a Bachelor of Education and then Master’s Degree in counseling and administration. During his career in education, Ben first taught at Risco, then St. Charles. He was the Registrar for Neosho Community College and then for Three Rivers Community College, from which he retired. Ben’s love for education continued as he showed his support to students and teachers by his attendance to local high school and college sporting events and awards ceremonies. In recognition of Ben’s dedication to the Doniphan community, he was named the Grand Marshal for the 2019 Doniphan Labor Day Parade. Ben also enjoyed spending time on the Current River with friends and family. He was a member of the Doniphan First United Methodist Church for over 70 years and served as treasurer. He had also served in the United States Army.
On June 2, 1979, Ben married Judy Boyle in New Madrid, MO. She survives. Also surviving is his son, Ben (Shelly) Pulliam of Moscow Mills, MO; daughter, Jill (David) Carpenter of Lee’s Summit, MO; one brother, Robert “Bob” (Pat) Pulliam of Doniphan; grandchildren, Jeff, Jennifer, Bethanie, Amanda, Sami, Tanner, and Whitley; and one great-grandchild, Cybil.
Visitation will be at Edwards Funeral Home on Saturday, August 14, 2021 from noon to 2:00 p.m. with the funeral following at 2:00. Brother Kent Wilfong will be officiating. Burial will be in the Doniphan City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in his name to the Doniphan First Methodist Church or your favorite charity.
