Franklin D. Johnson, 76, died Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at his home near Fairdealing, Missouri. Mr. Johnson, son of the late William C. and Naomi (Pratte) Johnson was born June 29, 1933, in St. Louis, Missouri. Mr. Johnson had lived and worked in St. Petersburg, Florida, for forty years. Following the death of his wife, Mary, he moved to Fairdealing, making his home with his sister and brother-in-law, Bill and Ruth Reynolds. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. Johnson attended the Pilgrim's Rest Church in Fairdealing. On November 24, 1952, he was married to Mary E. Grooms in Clay County, Arkansas. She preceded him in death on February 2, 2007. Surviving are one brother, William C. Johnson (Joyce) of Sonora, California; three sisters, Mary Drysdale of Doniphan, Missouri, Ruth Reynolds (Bill) of Fairdealing and Elizabeth Carnett (Ronnie) of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two brothers-in-law, Marvin Grooms (Sue) of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, and Norman Grooms (Wanda) of Union, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 54 years and one sister. Interment will be in the Royal Palm Cemetery, North St. Petersburg, Florida. A memorial service will be held at Pilgrim's Rest Church on June 20, 2010, at 3:00 p.m.
