Obituary of Willie "Duke" Hudson

Willie Darrell “Duke” Hudson, 69, of Gatewood, Missouri, died Thursday, August 24, 2017, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

Mr. Hudson, son of Bill and Hester (Lamberson) Hudson, was born July 1, 1948, in Doniphan, Missouri.  Over his many years of employment Duke had worked for Community Ford, Kerr-McGee Tie Company, U. S. Bank and Shelter Insurance.  He enjoyed fishing and was a good debater of politics.  Duke especially loved spending time with his family and friends.

On October 5, 1968, he was married to Judy Fay Bruce in Doniphan.  She preceded him in death on November 3, 2010.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; 1 sister, Rubie Powell; and 2 brothers, W. C. Moore and L. W. Guthrie.

Surviving are 2 daughters; Diana (Nathan) Wadkins and Darla (David) Pender, both of Gatewood; 2 grandchildren, Sierra Wadkins and Cheyenne Wadkins; 2 sisters Sarah Louise Carmickle of Harviell, Missouri, and Sue (Willie) Beal of Gatewood; 1 sister-in-law, Mary Jean Guthrie of Quinlin, Texas; 1 brother, Joe (Jenny) Hudson of Doniphan; and several nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held Saturday evening, August 26, 2017, from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan.  The funeral service will take place Sunday afternoon, August 27, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Jim Cornman officiating.  Burial will follow in the Ponder Cemetery.
