Obituary of Leroy O'Neal

Leroy O’Neal, 79, of Greenwood, Arkansas, departed this life Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at the Sparks Health System in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Mr. O’Neal, son of Milton and Nellie L. (Beebe) O’Neal, was born August 30, 1937, in Lilbourn, Missouri. He had been a truck driver. Mr. O’Neal loved mechanical work and over the road trucking and he also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He had been a former owner/operator of Lee’s Standard Station in Doniphan, Missouri. On September 19, 1976, in St. Louis, Missouri, he was married to Lora Jones, a resident of Greenwood, Arkansas. She survives. Also surviving are 6 children: Les Brown of Doniphan, Missouri, Peggy O’Neal of Greenwood, Arkansas, Julie O’Neal and Berry Jordan, both of St. Louis, Missouri, Jim O’Neal of Briar, Missouri, and Mitchell O’Neal of Winslow, Arkansas; 2 sisters, Peggy Belcher and Pat O’Neal; and 8 grandchildren, Christopher Coons, Zachary Brown, Dakota Brown, Skylar Harris, Dalton Harris, Jimmy Lee O’Neal, C. J. Brown and Amber Brown. Mr. O’Neal was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son, Joseph Harris, 3 brothers, J. P. O’Neal, M. C. O’Neal and Charles O’Neal and 1 grandchild, Kadance Harris. Visitation will begin Saturday, March 4, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in the Wilson Cemetery.
