Obituary of Jimmy Scott Dockins

Jimmy Scott Dockins, 54, of Doniphan, Missouri, departed this life Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at Siteman Cancer Center in St. Louis, Missouri, after a long battle with leukemia. Mr. Dockins was born in Casa Grande, Arizona, on February 12, 1963, to the late Jesse and Kitty (Baugus) Dockins. He had worked in construction, well-drilling, Gates Rubber Company, Tepsco Pipeline and Field Telecom. He served 3 years in the Army Reserves and 3 years in National Guard. Mr. Dockins loved hunting, fishing, gardening, four-wheeling and joking with his family and friends. He was a devoted husband and father. On October 13, 1979, Jimmy met Sharon Lee Franklin. On July 10, 1982, they were married in Doniphan. She survives. Also surviving are 3 sons: Jimmy Lee Dockins, Jesse John Dockins and Otto Tyler Dockins, all of Doniphan; brothers, Eddie (Suki) Dockins of Arizona and Henry Dockins of Italy; sisters, Sarah (Jim) Pace of Arkansas, Jenny (Mike) Wawak of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and Julie (Joel) Lunsford of Naylor, Missouri; sisters-in law, Carrol (Richard) Owens of Arkansas, Sheila (Randy) Teague of St. Louis, Missouri, and Bette (Jack) Ledbetter of Monroe City, Missouri; 22 nieces and nephews, 24 great nieces and nephews and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters-in-law Sandy Wilson and Elizabeth Keck. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning, March 4, 2017, at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Lance Compton officiating. Burial will be in the Thayer Cemetery in Thayer, Missouri. 2 Timothy 4:7 – “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of glory. Memorials may be made to the family of Jimmy Dockins.
