Obituary of David Oliver Thrasher

David Oliver Thrasher, 70, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Wednesday, December 14, 2016, at his home in rural Ripley County. Mr. Thrasher, son of Ollie Lavern and Flossie Mae (Webb) Thrasher, was born January 26, 1946, in Gibson, Missouri. He had been a farm hand and was a veteran of the U. S. Army, having served in Vietnam. Because of his heroism in combat, he was awarded the prestigious Purple Heart. Surviving are 2 sons, David Scott Thrasher of Horn Lake, Mississippi, and Keith Al Thrasher of Piggott, Arkansas; his mother, Flossie Mae Thrasher of Gideon, Missouri; 6 sisters, Mereda Mae Ezell of Campbell, Missouri, Betty Jane McRoy of Des Arc, Missouri, Brenda Reed of Neelyville, Missouri, Alta Louise Mallory of Canton, Mississippi, Lou Ellen Thrasher of Bernie, Missouri, and Leah Denice Kellum of Gideon; and 3 brothers, Cyrus Edward Thrasher of Moscow Mills, Missouri, Steven Wayne Thrasher of Neelyville and John Daniel Thrasher of Savannah, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his father and siblings Ann Stout, Sue Crum, Bill Thrasher and Tina Scott. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
