Obituary of Anna Mae Carrens

Anna Mae Carrens, 95, of Maynard, Arkansas, entered the kingdom of Heaven Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Mrs. Carrens, daughter of James Monroe and Nellie Mae (Willis) Pierce, was born June 27, 1921, in Success, Arkansas. She had been a secretary at the Doniphan High School in Doniphan, Missouri, for 13 years. Mrs. Carrens enjoyed gardening, tending her flowers, embroidering and quilting. She played the piano at First Baptist Church of Doniphan for many years and was especially fond of playing for the little ones in Sunday School. She later played at the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Pitman where she had been a member for many, many years. Her special joy was being with her granddaughter, great-granddaughter and 2 great-grandsons. On July 6, 1945, she was married to Charles Dwight (C. D.) Carrens at Pocahontas, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on February 1, 2012. They were blessed to have 66 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents and 1 sister, Lucille Braschler. Surviving are 1 daughter, Anita Carrens of Doniphan; 1 son, Charles Carrens of Piggott, Arkansas; 1 brother, Coleman (and Georgia) Pierce of Pocahontas, Arkansas; 1 granddaughter, Courtney (and Daniel) Landrum of Piggott; 1 great-granddaughter, Vivian Landrum; and 2 great-grandsons, Pierce Landrum (who was lovingly named in honor of his great-grandmother) and Reid Landrum. Also surviving are several nephews, nieces and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2016, at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastors Clifton Braschler and Mike Bradley officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Gideons’ International or the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
