William Harold Mitchell, of Dittmer, Missouri, formerly of Doniphan, Missouri, died November 6, 2016, at his daughter’s residence in Dittmer. Mr. Mitchell, son of William Ruble and Adell (Alled) Mitchell, was born July 2, 1935, in Calhoun City, Mississippi. He enlisted in the military forces at the age of 15 years old. He then served in the Missouri National Guard and the U. S. Army for a total of 14 years. He served in the Korean War. Mr. Mitchell worked as a mechanic for over 35 years in Ellisville, Missouri. Upon retirement he moved to Doniphan and was a member of the Lingo Church. He enjoyed watching baseball and football, playing golf with his friends and he liked hunting. He was a stock car driver for a few years at the race track in Valley Park, Missouri. He drove a green 1965 fastback mustang. He was married to Ellan J. Pender on February 4, 1961, and she preceded him in death on April 22, 2014. Surviving are a daughter, Regina (Charles) Cole of Dittmer; 3 grandchildren-Devon Marie Cole, Jessica Rene’ Cole and Charles William James Cole; and 6 great-grandchildren-Austin Thomas Cole, Sierra Nicole Kotzur, Alyssa J. Lang, Charles William James Cole, Jr., Grace Lynn Cole and Isaiah Wesley Cole. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Thomas Eugene (Nump) Mitchell and Jimmy Ray Mitchell. Visitation will be held Thursday evening, November 10, 2016, from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will follow Friday, November 11, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.
