Obituary of David Cordell Morgan

David Cordell Morgan, 44, of Newton, North Carolina, departed this life Saturday, September 17, 2016, at his residence. Mr. Morgan, son of Darrell Morgan and Katherine (Baker) Morgan, was born October 24, 1971, in Smithville, Missouri. On October 27, 2000, he met the love of his life, Tonya Beckman, and married her at Lake Taneycomo, Missouri, on July 26, 2002. David spent a great portion of his time here on earth in the woods, on a pond, and exhausting his efforts to be the best hunter, fisherman and scouter. He also enjoyed woodworking, racing, hiking and time spent with his family. He was a hardworking, simple man who got the greatest joys out of having a productive day - coffee every morning and a hammer in his hand to build something worthwhile. Through his misgivings, he struggled and succeeded. He was loved very much and will be greatly missed. Survivng are his wife, Tonya Morgan; 5 children, Cordella Rose Beckman Morgan, Vance Beckman Morgan, Guy Beckman Morgan, Damon Morgan and Kia Morgan; his father, Darrell (Sue) Morgan of Plattsburg, Missouri; his mother, Katherine Baker of Elkhart, Texas; 2 brothers, Darrell (LaDonna) Morgan of Lathrop, Missouri, and Clayton (Alicia) Morgan of Turney, Missouri; 3 grandchildren; and numerous caring extended family and friends. Visitation for Mr. Morgan will be held Thursday evening, September 22, 2016, from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. A burial service will follow Friday morning, September 23, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at the Baker Cemetery in rural Doniphan.
