Elizabeth Corinne Hastings, 84, of Doniphan, Missouri, departed this life Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at her residence in rural Doniphan. Mrs. Hastings, daughter of Harold and Virgie (Farmer) Nickell, was born June 12, 1932, in Doniphan. She had been a beautician and was co-owner of Hastings Grocery. Mrs. Hastings was raised on Wells Creek and loved to fish (her favorite spot was Current River), embroider and quilt and she especially enjoyed cooking for her family. She was a member of the River Valley Community Church. She was married to Prientus Lee Hastings on September 16, 1950, at the Old Wilson Church in West Doniphan. He preceded her in death on January 12, 2013. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Frank Nickell, a sister-in-law, Rosemary Nickell and a nephew, Jeff Nickell. After their marriage she and Prientus had lived in St. Louis for 33 years before moving back home. During that period of time she worked at Bouras Mop Company as a sewing machine operator. She then went to beauty college to become a beautician. Surviving are her loving daughter, Sharon Hastings-Hudson of Doniphan; 4 grandsons, Timothy (Jennifer) Mandry, Doug (Michelle) Mandry, Mark Hudson and Matt (Ashley) Hudson; 6 great-grandchildren, Anthony (Sherry) Belt, Alexis, Faith, Skylar, Hunter and Adysyn; a niece, Gina Nickell Farrin; 1 great-nephew, Rusty Farrin; and 1 great-niece Ronni Farrin. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 17, 2016, at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Shirley Cemetery with Brother Alan Wilson officiating.
