Sherman E. Chambers, Sr., 81, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Saturday, August 6, 2016, at his residence in rural Ripley County. Mr. Chambers, son of Alex and Elora (Vires) Chambers, was born March 13, 1935, in Lee County, Kentucky. He had been self-employed as an auto mechanic and was a veteran of the United States Army. Surviving are 4 children; Jeffrey Dale Chambers, Sandra Dee, Jerry Lee Chambers and Sherman Chambers, Jr.; 11 grandchildren, Zebediah Lee, Catherine Ann, Rose Mary, Derrick Wallace, Cheyenne Faith, Jerry Drye, Nichol Ann, Brandon James, Sherman Jodi, Logan James and Sadie Mae; his ex-wife, Gearldine Chambers; 3 brothers, Virgil Ray Chambers, John R. Chambers and Pete Chambers; and 3 sisters, Ginger Love, Janie McCreey and Lottie Chambers. He was preceded in death by his parents; 5 brothers, Robert Lee Chambers, Charles W. Chambers, Henry M. Chambers, Samuel Chambers and Joseph Chambers; and 1 sister, Evelyne Kelso. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 11, 2016, from 10-11 a.m. in the Edwards Funeral Home chapel in Doniphan. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the Bloomfield Veteran’s Cemetery in Bloomfield Missouri, with Brother Ken McAnulty officiating.
