Obituary of Mary Lee Owings

Mary Lee Owings, 54 year-old resident of the Briar, Missouri, community, passed away Friday, April 22, 2016, in her home. Mary Lee was born March 11, 1962, at the U. S. naval base in Norfolk, Virginia, and was a 1980 graduate of Doniphan High School. She served in the U. S. Air Force from 1980-84 and was stationed at Misawa Air Force Base, Japan, and in Little Rock, Arkansas. After returning home to Missouri, she helped run and operate Mary’s Café in Briar with her parents. Mary Lee enjoyed serving her community and had very loyal customers at the café. She also enjoyed decorating cakes, reading and football and had an extensive collection of Looney Tunes. Surviving is fiancé, Henry Reynolds and his 2 children, Megan (and Bill) Axelsen and Colton Reynolds; and 4 grandchildren. Also surviving are sister, Mary Ann Prisk of Covina, California, and 2 nieces of Rogers, Arkansas, Heather and Erin. Mary Lee had many extended family members as well. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred (Bill) and Mary E. Owings and Henry’s grandson, Maysen Ray. Mary Lee was very loved by many family members and friends. She will be missed greatly. Visitation will take place Thursday evening, April 28, 2016, from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will follow Friday morning, April 29, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Bob Featherston officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Briar.
