Dewey G. Holland, 88, of Gatewood died Wednesday, February 7, 2007, at Ripley County Memorial Hospital in Doniphan. Mr. Holland was born July 9, 1918, in Gatewood. He was a member of the Ponder Church of Christ. Mr. Holland joined & served in the U.S. Navy in World War II on January 24, 1942. He was retired form the State Highway Department as a crew leader and enjoyed cattle farming and chickens. On January 30, 1936, he married Clemmie Iola (Murdock) Holland in Pocahontas, Ark. She survives. Other survivors include two daughter, Karen Cochran and husband, Mike, and Pamela O'Neal and husband, Gene, all of Doniphan; one brother, Dewight Holland of Henderson, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Greg O'Neal, Christy Cannon and Cindy Barnett; and four great-grandchildren, Tyler O'Neal, Caden Cannon, Abby Cannon and Livia Barnett. He was preceded in death by his parents, Josephus and Flossie (Tinker) Holland; one daughter, Sandra Joe Holland; Two sisters, Joy Smithson and Zena Saylor; and three brothers, Bob Holland, Gene Holland and Noble Holland. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Harvey Seagraves officiating. Burial will be at Gatewood Cemetery.
