Marjory Bates Marjory Annette Bates, 89, of Doniphan died Saturday, January 20, 2007, at the Ripley County Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Bates was born August 9, 1917, in Fisk. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and was a retired school teacher. On May 24, 1944, she married Abraham Lester Bates in Poplar Bluff. He preceded her in death on April 2, 1992. Survivors include two sons, Elton Bates and wife, Sandra, of Doniphan and J. P. Bates and wife, Marcia, of Sikeston, and three grandchildren, Colleen Annette Bates and Gregory B. Bates, both of Sikeston and Adam Bates of Doniphan. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, James K. Pool and Flora M. Zoll Pool and one brother, James "Sonny" Pool. Visitation will be from 5 - 7:30 p.m. Friday at Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. A "Celebration of Life" service will follow, beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. A second visitation will begin at noon Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church in Fisk. The funeral service will follow, beginning at 2 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Linda Zych officiating. Burial will be in Old Ash Hill Cemetery in Fisk
