Fred Lasater

U.S. Veteran

Frederick William “Fred” Lasater, 92, of Gatewood, Missouri, died Thursday, July 26, 2012, at the Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains, Missouri.

Mr. Lasater, son of William and Emily (Sweeney) Lasater, was born January 13, 1920, in Lindsay, Nebraska. He had been a truck driver for Reed Oil Company in Doniphan, Missouri. Mr. Lasater was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served during World War II. He enjoyed farming, reading and being with his grandchildren.

He was first married to Leota McClaughlin on September 19, 1943, in El Reno, Oklahoma. On October 16, 1948, he was married to Thelma Linn at Pocahontas, Arkansas, and she preceded him in death on March 24, 2004.

Surviving are three children; Monya York and Pat Montgomery, both of Gatewood, Missouri, and Jerry Ray of Cuba, Missouri; twelve grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and eleven great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one daughter, Alda Green, two sisters, Almeda Schrock and Eula Bachman and two brothers, Sam Lasater and John Lasater.

Graveside services will be held Monday morning, July 30, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at the Dalton Cemetery at Old Burr with Brother Bob Featherston officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Gatewood School Library.
